Gite du Col de la Chaudière

The Gîte du Col de la Chaudière is a cottage located at La Chaudière, in the Pilat massif in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, accessible from the main roads connecting Saint-Étienne and Valence. It accommodates up to 32 people across 9 rooms, making it a suitable address for group stays, residential seminars, or extended family gatherings.

The building, typical of rural mid-mountain architecture, retains exposed stonework and visible timber framing in the communal areas. The central fireplace forms the heart of the stay and keeps the atmosphere warm during evenings at altitude. The shared kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, which simplifies logistics for large groups. Wi-Fi coverage extends throughout the cottage.

Outside, a barbecue is set up in the adjoining area, available on fine days for outdoor meals. The grounds enjoy an open aspect over the Pilat ridgelines, with unobstructed views across the surrounding hills depending on the season and weather. Games are available on site to occupy free time without requiring any travel.

The pass serves as a direct starting point for the waymarked trails of the Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat, at around 900 metres above sea level. In winter, snowfall in the area allows for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the immediate vicinity. The nearest shops are a few kilometres away in the valley villages.
