Casa rural Mokorrea

About
Nestled in the village of Echalar, in the Chartered Community of Navarre, Casa rural Mokorrea is a characterful cottage offering a lush and authentic setting at the gateway to the Spanish Basque Country and the foothills of the Pyrenees.
The house features several bedrooms and spacious living areas, designed to comfortably accommodate a group. The shared rooms provide space to gather and share meals, while the thoughtful décor — with many personal touches — helps create a warm atmosphere, far from the impersonal feel of some group accommodations. The whole property is maintained with particular care: guests who have stayed here unanimously highlight the impeccable cleanliness of the premises.
The quality of the house rests as much on its furnishings and amenities as on the presence of its host, Kontxi, the owner. She stands out for her attention to the smallest details and her attentiveness, appreciated by family groups and other travellers alike. Reviews notably mention the option of enjoying meals prepared by the host, which is a significant asset for a group stay free from logistical constraints. The house holds a Google rating of 5/5 across 63 reviews, reflecting an experience that consistently meets expectations.
Echalar is a rural municipality in northern Navarre, set within a landscape of wooded hills characteristic of the region. Its proximity to the French border and the Basque Country opens up numerous excursion possibilities: hikes along the surrounding trails, exploration of the villages of the Baztan valley, visits to natural sites such as the Irati Forest or the Kakueta Gorge within a short distance, and trips to San Sebastián or Pamplona for those wishing to combine nature with urban discovery. The village itself invites calm and disconnection, in an unspoilt environment conducive to recharging as a group.

Absolutely spectacular. Everything about this place deserves a good review. The owner is a very attentive lady who cares more about her guests than about herself. Her attention to detail is something that nowadays is hard to find. She is more than kind, and quickly makes you part of her family. Breakfast is unbelievable, and the quality of the food she makes leaves a five star hotel in the dust. The house has a charm that is reminiscent of days long gone. It is in a beautiful location near everything you want to see in the area. Tranquil, beautiful and more than anything else, it makes you feel like part of something greater than you. It is absolutely mesmerizing that generations of people have grown up here, living through both feast and famine. The house has seen times that I could only imagine. It reminds me of the history of generations long gone, and more than anything, it will always be a part of our lives because of the great memories we made. My kids loved the town, and so did my wife and I. I’d recommend it to anyone. We will definitely come back.
We spent 3 days in this house and was such an amazing experience. My husband and kids enjoyed the experience as well as I did. The owner of the house is the sweetest and most caring woman. She cooked for us amazing Spanish homemade food and welcome our kids with a gift. The house was clean and well taking care of and the village is a gem in this rural area of Spain. The village is close to Pamplona, France, and San Sebastián. Perfect place to spend time away from the stress of daily life.
Three wonderful days at Kontxi's spectacular house. It's impeccably maintained, spotless, and full of lovely decorative touches that make the stay even more special. Kontxi is an exceptional host: warm, always smiling, and with incredible positive energy. She also surprised us with delicious treats throughout our stay. A perfect place and a wonderful person. Thank you so much for everything!
We spent a few days in Mokorrea and it was a wonderful experience. The house is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by nature and tranquility, but what truly made our stay special was Kontxi. From the very first moment, she greeted us with a smile and a warmth that made us feel right at home. Every morning she left a little something for breakfast at the door, a thoughtful gesture that stayed with us throughout our stay. You can see the care she puts into everything: the house, the details, and above all, how she treats people. Thank you, Kontxi, for your kindness and for making us feel so welcome. We left with wonderful memories and a strong desire to return.
We were in Mokorrea this weekend. The area is wonderful, the house is amazing, and Kontxi is a spectacular host! Thank you so much, Kontxi!
