About

Casa Rural La Tejera is a rural guesthouse located at the entrance of the village of Huerta de Rey, in the province of Burgos in Castilla y León, at the heart of a Spanish region marked by a rich historical heritage and unspoiled countryside.

The house is described by travelers as spacious, clean and quiet, offering a setting well suited to groups. It has notably hosted touring cycling groups, which speaks to its capacity to accommodate several people at once. The interior layout allows a group to share a communal living space, although some reviews note that the individual rooms can feel modest relative to the price charged — a point worth bearing in mind depending on the group's composition.

The overall comfort of the house is regularly praised by visitors, who mention a fully equipped property that meets the needs of a group stay. What stands out most clearly from guest feedback is the owners' involvement: their availability, their welcome and their attentiveness are cited as the highlight of the experience, contributing significantly to guests' satisfaction. The property holds an average rating of 4.5/5 across 48 Google reviews, reflecting a consistently solid and well-regarded experience.

The immediate surroundings offer direct access to several points of interest. History enthusiasts can explore the Roman ruins of Clunia, one of the most significant archaeological sites in the region. Nearby are also Covarrubias, a well-preserved medieval village, the La Yecla canyon, and the renowned monastery of Santo Domingo de Silos, famous for its Romanesque cloister and Gregorian chant tradition. The region is also crossed by the Camino de la Lana, a hiking and cycle-touring route linking Cuenca to Burgos, of which Huerta de Rey forms a natural stopping point after the regional capital. For groups looking for a functional, well-positioned base from which to explore this part of Castilla y León, Casa Rural La Tejera represents a coherent choice.

We are seven cyclists doing the Camino de la Lana in reverse, and this has been our accommodation after leaving Burgos. A fantastic house with every possible comfort; if you have any questions or problems, they resolve them instantly. Choosing this place to rest was a great decision.

The best thing about the place was the owners' attention. The location, at the entrance to the village, is unattractive. The room and bathroom were small for the price. In my experience, it doesn't deserve four stars. The highlight of the stay was the breakfast, with a very nice presentation, adequate for the category but nothing exceptional. When we arrived, the television wasn't working. We called and they came right away to try to fix it. They told us that the guests who had checked out of the room that morning had mentioned that it had stopped working. But apparently, they couldn't check it until the afternoon when we arrived. They found an alternative by bringing up another television, which fortunately worked, because they told us that if it didn't work and it was Saturday, there was nothing they could do. The walls have many marks and the towels have some holes that are unacceptable for the category. For €135 a night, one expects more. The terrace, besides not being very usable in December, overlooked an unattractive courtyard. Rooms on the first floor without a lift or elevator, which, in addition to being an impediment for people in wheelchairs, forces them to carry their luggage up, no matter how heavy it is.

A very nice, clean, quiet, and spacious house, and the owners were very friendly. There are many areas to visit, such as the Roman ruins of Clunia, Covarrubias, La Yecla, Santo Domingo de Silos, and the surrounding pine forests... I read that the festivals there are very popular, so we'll be back!

A beautiful country house; we've stayed there several times and it's always fantastic. The owner is lovely and the area has great restaurants.
