Casa Rural Las Gesillas

About
At the heart of the Sierra de Gredos, between the granite buttresses and the centuries-old pine forests, Arenas de San Pedro holds something timeless. It is here, away from the roads and the noise, that Casa Rural Las Gesillas has settled as if it had always belonged to the landscape — surrounded by woods, fruit trees, and vegetable gardens that mark the hours according to the seasons.
The house runs entirely on solar energy, with a backup generator. This detail, seemingly trivial, says everything about the spirit of the place: a German family who chose to put down roots here, to build differently, and who welcome their guests in Spanish and English with the same quiet warmth. Sophie, who runs the house, is one of those people who know how to be present without ever intruding — attentive, available, but respectful of the space entrusted to you.
For large groups, Las Gesillas is a real find. The house can comfortably accommodate between 8 and 12 people, with generous living spaces designed so that everyone finds their place — whether around a shared meal or in a reading nook facing the forest. Around the property, figs, olive trees, and garden vegetables punctuate the morning walks.
The Sierra de Gredos offers exceptional terrain: hikes to the high-altitude lagoons, swimming in the cool rivers of the Tiétar valley, medieval villages to explore at a leisurely afternoon pace. But many simply choose to stay, to sit, to listen to the wind in the pines.
What guests take with them when they leave is rarely anything specific. It is rather a quality of silence, the memory of golden light on the rocks at sunset, and that rare feeling of having truly switched off — the kind you don't find in a hotel, but in a house where you were welcomed as a passing friend.

This a great place if you are in need of a quiet weekend away. It's completely solar powered but they do have a generator as a backup. Great friendly German family but all speak Spanish and English fluently. There are great hikes very close by. Most of the food is made from their own fruits and vegetables and naturally organic!!! Highly recommended!
A quiant rural house in gredos. They have many fruits and vegatables plants around the house. Great place to disconnect from the busy city and relax in nature. Good for big groups of 8 to 12.
The house is surrounded by woods, in a beautiful and peaceful setting, ideal for relaxing and connecting with nature. Sophie was a wonderful host, attentive to our needs while always respecting our privacy. The house isn't luxurious, but it's well-equipped, and we found everything very clean and well-maintained. We'll be back!
It's a fantastic house in the middle of the mountains. Nothing fancy, but within five minutes of arriving you realize you have everything you need to enjoy nature and good company. The rooms are spacious and clean. The kitchen had enough utensils for nine people. Hans and Juliane are incredibly kind and helpful, as they live next door. In my case, my baby got sick, and they offered to drive us to the emergency room. It was a highly recommended experience, and we'll definitely be back.
Beautiful house in the mountains. Wi-Fi is available, but the signal is poor. Ideal for relaxing and escaping the city. It has everything you need: a gas stove and a refrigerator. Please use electricity sparingly as it is powered by renewable energy. Enjoy walks in the woods; the surrounding area is beautiful.
