Les Quatre Saisons

About
Between the Ardèche plateaus and the first foothills of the Vercors, Lemps sits at that precise point where rural France seems to have kept the secret of its own unhurried pace. The chestnut forests change their colors with the months, rivers have carved their path for centuries, and the air carries, depending on the season, the scent of warm resin or morning mist. It is against this backdrop that Les Quatre Saisons found its reason for being: a cottage designed for twenty people to live together, in step with the rhythm of this land.
The five bedrooms distribute sleeping arrangements generously, without anyone having to sacrifice their comfort. In the morning, the kitchen — equipped with a dishwasher — effortlessly absorbs communal breakfasts and returns from the market; the washing machine, for its part, quietly takes care of the clothes of hikers who have come back muddy from the forest. In the afternoon, the swimming pool becomes the group's center of gravity — people gather there between excursions, and conversations begun over a meal continue by the water. As the sun drops behind the hills, the barbecue takes over: embers glow, glasses of Saint-Joseph or Cornas are filled, and the Ardèche night settles gently around the table.
Les Quatre Saisons plays honestly with its name: each time of year reveals something different. Spring sets the broom bushes foaming along the paths. Summer brings that low, golden light unique to southern afternoons. Autumn dresses the chestnut trees in rust and copper. And in winter, when the group prefers indoors to out, the cottage closes in around itself like a house that knows how to hold the warmth.
What guests take with them when they leave is not quite describable. It is something that resembles an inner slowing down — the certainty that twenty people can still, for the length of a stay, live at the same pace, eat at the same hours, and watch together as the sun disappears behind the same hills.
