About

La Batipuerta brings together several rural houses in the heart of Candelario, a village ranked among the most beautiful in Spain, nestled on the slopes of the Sierra de Béjar mountains in Castilla y León. The property can host large groups — celebrations of 40 people or more have already been organized there without a hitch, as attested by families who return to stay here year after year.

The houses are spacious and designed so that communal living is genuinely workable: each group has enough room for everyone to find their own space whenever they need it, while still coming together with the rest of the party in the shared areas. Generous living rooms, kitchens equipped for cooking at scale, terraces with direct views of the surrounding peaks — the conditions are in place so that no one feels cramped, even over several days.

The venue adapts to a wide range of formats: extended family weekends, birthdays with a large guest list, communions or celebration dinners, small-group corporate retreats, intimate weddings away from the urban bustle. The on-site team is regularly praised by guests for their hospitality and attentiveness — a factor that makes a concrete difference when coordinating an event for 20, 30 or 40 people you don't want to manage alone.

Candelario also contributes to the stay beyond the accommodation itself: its cobblestone lanes, its well-preserved vernacular architecture, and direct access to the Sierra de Béjar make it a destination in its own right. Hiking, exploring the village, or complete rest — the group sets its own pace without needing to travel anywhere.

With a 4.9/5 rating across nearly 200 Google reviews, La Batipuerta is consistently the top recommendation for authentic group accommodation in this part of Castilla y León.

I go to Candelario on a yearly basis with my family and La Batipuerta is hands down, 100% the best place to stay. It has it all. I try to book it every time... sometimes it's not easy because it's quite popular. The location is perfect. In a village like Candelario it's great to be in the middle of it all so you don't always have to walk ALL the way up or down the hill to get to places (groceries, bars, hikes, etc.). There is also a small public parking lot a few meters away from the house for easy loading/unloading. The facilities are perfect. Larger rooms for families or groups, smaller rooms for couples or friends and a pool and grilling area in the garden that are a delight to use; clean and well maintained. Welcome items like breakfast and a small treat add a really nice touch. Best of all, the owners are amazing. Macu and Felix are always on the lookout to make your stay enjoyable and perfect; this is what really make the difference. Feels like home with new friends. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I could help it!

I celebrated my daughter's First Communion and we couldn't be happier or more grateful for everything (us and the 41 guests). We don't have a single complaint. We didn't know them at all and contacted them online... Macu, Félix, and their children are out of this world. Their professional and personal qualities are truly unique. La Batipuerta is much more than just a place to stay or hold events. It's a charming home where they take care of every last detail and strive to understand your needs and make them a reality. In a beautiful setting, the little houses are divine... The food, the drinks, the show... the service, wonderful... Everything was harmony, peace, and kindness. Our sincerest congratulations and eternal gratitude because you made us all incredibly happy. So very happy. THANK YOU

Thank you Macu, Paula, and Félix for making our stay absolutely perfect. Our whole family (25 in total 😳) went, and we booked all the cottages. We were able to explore each one, and each one is more beautiful than the last. Large rooms, many with en-suite bathrooms. Very nice and beautifully decorated. The thoughtful touches like towels and other details make you feel even more attached to the room, but especially to the owners. Each cottage has its own kitchen where you'll find a tray of pastries, a bag of Bimbo bread, packets for making hot chocolate, a package of coffee, sugar, and oil. A spacious outdoor area where you can relax in different settings, whether playing basketball, under a pergola enjoying a cup of tea, or by the pool. There's also a fantastic barbecue area. The common area has a very long table where we were able to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner comfortably, a pool table, sofas in front of the fireplace where we could relax and chat in comfort, a Dolce Gusto coffee machine with capsules, tea bags, sugar, sweetener, and stevia (the first place I've found that offers stevia; I always have to bring it from home). There are two restrooms, one for men and one for women, and another area with sofas. At night, the outdoor lights turn on automatically, and it's beautiful. You can order lunch or dinner, and they give you the menu options before you arrive. I didn't order anything because of my diet, but the food for everyone else on Saturday was incredible. They set the table beautifully with great attention to detail. The food smelled wonderful, and everyone was delighted. It's definitely worth trying. Thank you again to Macu, Paula, and Félix. We'll be back soon 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🕉

We decided to set a point equidistant from the crowd to reunite as a family and celebrate my husband's sixtieth birthday. We reserved a house in an area near the town, and just the day before arriving there, due to a special circumstance, they changed our location to the Casa Rural La Batipuerta. I'm sure there are no coincidences, for me, there are coincidences. Well, with a new expectation, we set off on the trip to meet there, eager to surprise my husband Antonio with the presence of my brothers-in-law/brothers-in-law, who hadn't been together for over a decade, along with their children, daughter-in-law, and grandson/granddaughter pair. The most endearing thing was the closeness, complicity, and connivance with which Macu was involved in the whole scheme, so as not to discover who was waiting for us at La Batipuerta and so we could surprise my husband. It was perfect, an unforgettable surprise; It was only the beginning of a magnificent stay. The warmth isn't created by the spaces and places, they merely complement it; it's created by the people who inhabit them, who know how to extract the full potential of the places, the atmosphere with its essence, and the good treatment, the closeness, the disposition. At no point did we feel like guests; they made us feel human, people, with their generous presence at all times. They deserve a forever thank you from me and my family, as they have been essential to our celebration. You are people it's a pleasure to meet, because you are brilliant. Until another time, Macu and Family.
