About

Casa Rural Los Monteros is located in Aldeanueva de la Sierra, a village nestled in the western foothills of the Sistema Central, in Castilla y León. The cottage sits within a well-preserved rural setting, close to the landscapes of the Sierra de Béjar and the oak and chestnut forests characteristic of the region.

The property is offered as a whole rental, making it a suitable option for groups or families seeking exclusive use of the space. The interior features high-end bedding — premium-quality sheets, duvets, and pillows — consistently praised by guests. The overall space is described as clean, functional, and true to the published photos: no surprises upon arrival. The kitchen and living areas are fully equipped for a self-catering stay.

The owner provides a personal welcome and remains available throughout the stay. The property is well positioned as a base for exploring the surrounding natural sites: gorges, hiking trails, and medieval villages in the province of Salamanca are all accessible by car from Aldeanueva.

One recurring concern emerges from reviews: the main bed has a spring mattress with particularly soft pillows, which has caused back discomfort for some guests.

With 40 Google reviews and an average rating of 4.80/5, Casa Rural Los Monteros has a strong track record, driven primarily by the quality of the linens, the cleanliness of the space, and the owner's attentiveness.

I've just arrived back in Madrid after a wonderful weekend at Casa Rural Los Monteros 1. I'm still thinking about how much fun we had, the comforts of the house (luxury sheets, bedspreads, and pillows), and the excellent and friendly explanations the owner or manager (I'm not sure which) gave us about the local hiking trails. My husband and I are avid hikers and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We loved the wooden ceiling and stone walls, and the tasteful decor. We'll be back in May; we've already made a reservation. Don't miss visiting the village of Aldeanueva de la Sierra and the Los Monteros country houses—they're highly recommended.

We stayed at the house over the December bank holiday weekend, and it's exactly as it appears in the photos. Very comfortable, clean, and with everything you need for your stay. It's well-located for exploring the Sierra de Francia region and its beautiful villages and sites. Jose Antonio, the owner, is fantastic. He was always helpful and kept us informed about local attractions and services.

The bed ruined our weekend. My husband and I both ended up with back pain. It's a spring bed with very low, soft pillows. Otherwise, it was great. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

We spent a week in August 2021, with two adults and two eight-year-old girls staying at Los Monteros II. The village itself isn't particularly noteworthy, but it's very peaceful and located at the gateway to the Sierra de Francia mountains, which is the area we wanted to visit (everything important is close by). There's no shop, but Tamames, just 7 km away, has everything you need. Don't miss the cheese shop, which is only 100 meters from the house—very interesting, with excellent cheeses and very friendly owners. The apartment is spotless and clean. It's a small house divided into three rooms (bedroom, bathroom, and living/dining/kitchen area) separated by partitions that don't reach the ceiling. In my opinion, this is a very well-designed layout that enhances the sense of space. It could use a bit more natural light, but it's sufficient. The apartment is on the ground floor and has no neighbors above. It overlooks landscaped common areas (access is through one of them), a street at the rear, and shares a party wall with another apartment. During our stay, there was another couple staying there, and there was no noise disturbance whatsoever… perfect insulation. We were escaping the heat and were worried about not having air conditioning, but we really didn't need it. During the day, we were usually out exploring the area, but a couple of nights we ate lunch in the house, and although it was hot outside, it was comfortable inside (good roof insulation). Nights were also very cool. It has one spacious bedroom with a double bed and a living-dining-kitchen area with a sofa bed for the two girls. The sofa bed needs to be opened and closed every day to have enough space for eating and relaxing, but it's quick, easy, and convenient to do without having to unmake the bed. This sofa bed is the size of a double bed, and the mattress is perfect for children. The double bed mattress is very comfortable and sleeps very well. We can't comment on the pillows because we usually travel with our own. The bathroom is in keeping with the house, well-equipped, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen is small but sufficient for our needs. It has everything essential: a two-burner ceramic hob, a refrigerator with a freezer, a small dishwasher, a washing machine, a microwave, a coffee maker, etc. If I had to find a fault, it would be that there's a bit little cookware for four people and a bit of storage space, but you manage fine. Outside, there's a common area that provides access to our apartment, the one next door, and Jose Antonio's (the owner's) house. This area includes a private space with a table and four chairs, as well as a garden area and a clothesline. Everything is very well-maintained and clean. We loved the Sierra de Francia region... villages, rivers, mountains, trails... and no crowds. Whenever we needed him, Jose Antonio was there... endless attention, advice, kindness, and courtesy. The stay has been simply perfect.

We've been coming to these wonderful accommodations for the All Saints' Day long weekend for seven years now, except for the lockdown. The first year we were captivated by the rural charm of the little house where we enjoyed three unforgettable nights. With a must-see visit to Salamanca and La Alberca, and the tranquility of Aldeanueva, we always relish the relaxation that comes from escaping the stress of city life. I also want to highlight the excellent service from José Antonio, who, over these years, has become someone we truly appreciate and are grateful for, making our stays so comfortable. This past year there were five of us, and if all goes well, there will be six of us next time.
