Casa rural La Camacha

About
Nestled in the Sierra de Aracena, in Andalusia, Casa Rural La Camacha is a country house with genuine charm, ideal for large-group stays in the heart of an unspoiled natural landscape.
The house offers spacious interiors, including a large living room with high ceilings that gives the place a generous, light-filled atmosphere. It is designed to accommodate large families or groups of friends, spread across several bedrooms. Its layout makes it a well-suited option for gatherings where everyone can have their own space while sharing expansive common areas. Outside, there is a pool, described by visitors as magnificent, which is an undeniable asset for summer stays.
The cleanliness of the property is unanimously praised in reviews, from the living areas to the bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped, with a wide variety of utensils and cooking equipment, convenient for groups wishing to prepare their own meals on site. The bedrooms have comfortable beds with quality mattresses. The interior décor, tasteful and carefully curated, adds to the overall atmosphere of the house. One point worth noting: in cold weather, the large living room with its high ceilings can be difficult to heat with the fireplace alone; the bedrooms are equipped with electric thermal storage heaters as a supplement.
Aracena is a town in the province of Huelva, at the heart of the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Natural Park. The area is renowned for its high-quality Iberian ham production, its cork oak landscapes, and its traditional whitewashed villages. Not to be missed nearby: the Gruta de las Maravillas, a network of underground caves among the most spectacular in Spain, accessible from the town center. The region also offers numerous marked hiking trails, opportunities for gastronomic discovery, and a rich architectural heritage. Casa Rural La Camacha makes a practical base for exploring this lesser-known part of inland Andalusia.

The house is pretty, but very cold. The living room is huge with high ceilings, making it impossible to heat it with a fireplace; we were freezing. The bedrooms had oil-filled radiators, which weren't powerful enough to heat the rooms, and the water heater didn't provide enough hot water for a shower. In short, a nice place, but not recommended if it's cold. Cold air came in through the windows and door because they weren't well insulated.

The response to the recent negative comments would be perfectly accurate if it weren't untrue: 1. From the very beginning, the conditions they offered included, among others, no set check-in or check-out time, and a 3-night reservation. If they wanted a reservation for more than 3 nights, it was simply not accepted from the outset. 2. They were not misled at any point, since, as 3 of the 4 families worked, we were going to arrive in the afternoon, and this was clearly communicated when the reservation was made: check-in Thursday the 7th in the afternoon and check-out Sunday the 10th after breakfast. 3. By offering the condition of no set check-in time, the only family who didn't work on the 7th considered arriving mid-morning; there was no need to arrive early in the morning (there was no need to get up early). 4. More than two months after the booking (when the high demand for rural houses begins), they doubted our intentions and word, and sent a WhatsApp message canceling the condition of no check-in time. Initially, they indicated that we had to check in during the late afternoon/evening (later they corrected themselves, stating that check-in had to be no earlier than 2:00 PM, and no one could check in before then). They also stated that if we wanted to check in in the morning, we would have to pay for the previous night. "WHAT?!" 5. Another solution they proposed was that the family who wasn't working on the 7th would pay €300 and leave the night before. "WHAT?!" Now it turns out that wanting to save a night is opportunistic and unreliable... Some lose so others can win... Especially since it was only one family who wasn't working on the day in question, and we made it very clear that we only wanted and could book 3 nights. 6. At no point has there been any disrespect shown by this party, or by any other party. Everything has been communicated with complete cordiality, despite the indignation felt at the lack of trust shown, all without any reason (or perhaps, and reiterating what was said before, motivated by the high demand they are probably experiencing to rent the house for 4, or even 5 nights). No one can control what anyone thinks in private, even if it becomes known due to human error. No one questions the years they have been running the business, how seriously they take it, or the number of references available. We also take house rentals very seriously, setting very clear terms from the start: the dates we want, check-in and check-out times... We've been renting rural houses for over 12 years, sometimes staying in the same ones, and we've never, ever had any problems whatsoever, not a single one, whether regarding length of stay, check-in, or check-out. What's more, our guests always thank us for the excellent condition and impeccable cleanliness in which we leave the houses. You could also get plenty of references. Best regards.

Unpleasant experience. I think some people aren't qualified to run businesses like this, and all they do is give the industry a bad name. After paying 50% of the rent in August for the December bank holiday weekend, she wants us to pay for an extra day if we want to check in before lunchtime; in other words, she's forcing us to check in late in the afternoon. I suppose the house is worth it (we haven't been able to verify that), but the owner is not trustworthy.
