Casa Rural GureLur

About
Deep in the Bidasoa valley, where Navarrese Basque Country still breathes open air, Sunbilla clings to its hills as if time itself had decided to linger there. Mountains wrap around the village, beech forests descend to the meadows, and you understand almost immediately why someone thought to name this house *GureLur* — "our land" in Basque. A name that says it all.
The cottage settles into this landscape with quiet self-evidence. Designed for large groups, it welcomes up to ten people in spacious, well-arranged bedrooms, each with enough privacy for every guest to keep their own pace. The living room opens onto a generous shared space, the kitchen is equipped for real communal meals, and the outdoor areas invite both leisurely wandering and long meals stretched under the Navarrese sky. Seven people, ten, a blended family, a group of longtime friends — the house absorbs all of it without ever feeling crowded.
What truly makes the difference here is Maialen. An exceptional host praised in nearly every review — 4.9 out of 5 across 75 stays — she is one of those people who make a place feel like home from the very first hour. Always available, attentive without being intrusive, she knows her surroundings like the back of her hand and can point you toward the trails worth walking, the markets, the pelota courts, the small restaurants that appear on no list.
The surrounding area offers enough to fill entire days: hikes in the Sierra de Aralar, swimming in mountain rivers, day trips to Pamplona or San Sebastián, neither of which is ever far. But many guests also choose to do nothing at all — simply to inhabit the silence of the valley.
What guests bring back from GureLur is not a checklist of completed activities. It is the memory of a meal that stretched well past dessert, the raking evening light across the ridgelines, and the rare certainty of having truly switched off.

We stayed at the house a few weeks ago, and I must admit Maialen is one of the best hosts I have ever met. Kind, generous, ready to help any minute, always with smile! We did bug her quite a bit, and I apprreciate Maialen's kindness a lot! Thank you. Beautiful house and amazing landscape attached to an amazing host - and so you get an ideal place to stay:)
We had a wonderful three nights in this country house. The layout is ideal, with spacious and well-organized rooms that allow for plenty of independence, even for a large group (there were seven of us, a baby, and two dogs). The house is very well-equipped and maintained, with everything you need for daily life, and we especially want to highlight the impeccable cleanliness. The garden is perfect if you're traveling with dogs, and the porch with a barbecue (and a beer tap!) is a real bonus, whether the weather is good or bad. Furthermore, the location is excellent for exploring the surrounding villages. Without a doubt, a highly recommended option for enjoying a relaxing getaway with a group.
It was an incredible weekend at Maialen's country house. She was an excellent and very attentive host. The house is beautiful, very clean and well-maintained. The surroundings are spectacular. We will definitely be back.
The house is excellently equipped, both with the basics and extras, and the outdoor area with its fabulous barbecue and cider and beer taps is fantastic. Everything was spotless. The hostess is very friendly and attentive to everything at all times. Furthermore, the house is in a beautiful, fairytale-like village. We will definitely return as soon as we have the chance.
We had a wonderful holiday; it's a very nice house, very well equipped, with everything you need to enjoy yourself. During the heatwave, the cider and beer taps were a lifesaver! The owner was attentive, friendly, and discreet. Everything was perfect. They also have bikes available for exploring the greenway, which I highly recommend.
