About

At the heart of medieval Umbria, perched on its thousand-year-old hills, Amelia is one of those towns that seem suspended between sky and the Tiber valley. Its cyclopean walls — among the oldest in Italy, predating even Rome — encircle a historic center where every alleyway tells twenty centuries of peasant and aristocratic life. Nestled within this setting is Agriturismo Borgo Antico, a guest house just a short walk from the town center, designed for large groups wishing to experience Italy from the inside.

The property accommodates up to 22 people in clean, well-kept spaces where comfort meets the authenticity of the Umbrian rural style. There is no catalog décor here: the generous rooms, the light filtering over the surrounding hills, and the tranquility of the place are a reminder that you are in a living space, one with a soul.

In the morning, the breakfast table becomes a moment of grace. The host sets out homemade cakes and pastries prepared the evening before — a warm welcome that sets the tone for a full day of exploration. The province of Terni is indeed rich in treasures within easy reach: Orvieto with its gilded cathedral, Civita di Bagnoregio suspended in mid-air, and the wild gorges of the Nera just a few kilometers away.

It is worth noting that the property is managed by its owner personally, present on site in keeping with the tradition of the Italian agriturismo. This proximity, which can be a genuine asset for those seeking authentic connection with the local area, is something groups desiring a high degree of independence should factor in ahead of time.

What will guests take away from Amelia? The memory of an Umbrian morning, the scent of warm brioche, a raking light across terracotta rooftops, and that rare feeling of having slept somewhere time had slowed down. Agriturismo Borgo Antico is Italy unfiltered — the Italy you won't find in guidebooks, but can never quite forget.

The worst and most shameful place I've ever spent New Year's Eve in my life. The only silver lining is that we finally left. The landlord was intrusive, inappropriate, and constantly present, and that alone would be enough. But no, he did more: he turned off the radiators and made the rooms freezing, and we had two little girls who were not even two years old with us, but who cares? Oh, obviously, hot water only on request, otherwise it wouldn't have been much of an inconvenience. But the icing on the cake, well, is the garbage, which after 48 hours he demanded we take out without any reason, considering that I unfortunately had to pay to stay in this dreadful place.

Welcoming and clean property just a short distance from the center of Amelia. The owner is very friendly. Excellent breakfast featuring homemade desserts. A pleasant discovery!

No stay I want to tell these people that they are a B&B not for fun but to have discounts on taxes and costs instead they charge like any resort hotel....... the rooms previously had a price of 50/60 per hour per person.....

ok

The place is far away and inconvenient to reach due to the road full of potholes. The rooms are comfortable but there is a lack of cunning to ensure that the customer returns. In any case, I do not recommend this place.
