Unica Assisi Agri Charming House was the best place I have stayed during this and even previous vacations. The apartment we booked for my family was very spacious, extremely well equipped, and even exceeded our expectations. The view from our apartment overlooking Assisi was wonderful. The breakfast was excellent and very generous. The owner was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. If you visit Assisi, this place is a must—definitely book for more than one night at this charming house.
TL;DR: Restaurant staff ignored our clear request to serve dishes at the same time (important with a baby), insisted on Italian “rules” instead, brought a cancelled dish anyway, tried to charge us for it, and handled the situation with hostility and condescension. Very unpleasant experience that left a bad impression on our whole stay. ⸻ We stayed at the hotel and decided to eat at the in-house restaurant to keep things simple, since we were traveling with our 9-month-old baby. To make dinner manageable, we ordered three dishes (two adults, sharing) and clearly asked for everything to be served together. Instead, only two dishes arrived. When we realized the third was missing, we reminded the staff and asked to cancel it — but the dish arrived anyway, and we sent it back. Later, when the bill came, the cancelled dish still appeared on it. At that point, the head waitress became argumentative, telling us we shouldn’t expect dishes to arrive at the same time because “in Italy, food comes in a certain system.” She implied we were ignorant tourists, even though we had specifically requested simultaneous service. When I calmly pointed out the mistake and asked for the item to be removed, she looked at me and said: “Why are you so irritated? You seem angry with me.” Then she forced us to go through the bill line by line, asking us to approve each item one by one in a very unpleasant manner. The whole episode dragged on unnecessarily and left us feeling very uncomfortable. The following day, during the rest of our stay, the same staff member was visibly cold and unfriendly, which only deepened the negative impression. Overall, the hotel itself was fine, but this restaurant experience really overshadowed our visit. It was stressful, unprofessional, and disappointing — especially given how easy the situation could have been handled with a little understanding.
Perfect location for visiting Assisi, stunning view of the city, lovely swimming pool and a great restaurant. Good links to Perugia airport, so no need to hire a car if you're just going to visit the town.
