Ferienhaus in der Blaiche

At the heart of the Passeier Valley, in this alpine corridor linking South Tyrol to Austria, St. Leonhard is a village that carries history in its stones. Birthplace of Andreas Hofer, symbol of Tyrolean resistance, the valley has preserved a fierce and authentic soul that the major resorts never managed to smooth away. Here, meadows climb high up the slopes, apple orchards spread across the valley floor, and larch forests catch fire every autumn.

The Ferienhaus in der Blaiche fits into this landscape with the natural discretion of chalets firmly rooted in their land. The building combines the dark wood of traditional facades with generous interior spaces, designed for large group gatherings. The rooms are spread across several levels, giving each subgroup its own breathing room while preserving the pleasure of coming together around one large shared table. The kitchen, well-equipped and functional, invites communal cooking — an improvised raclette after a day's hiking, homemade pasta with a Lagrein opened a little too quickly.

Outside, the terrace opens onto a panorama of ridgelines that shifts hour by hour with the light. In summer, trails set off directly from the valley toward the refuges of the Texelgruppe; in winter, the slopes of Merano 2000 are within driving distance. Between seasons, the village offers its markets, its small museums, its Buschenschänke where new wine is drunk with rye bread and old-fashioned smoked speck.

What guests carry home in their luggage is not only the happy fatigue in their legs after the climb, nor the smell of warm wood that has seeped into their clothes.
