Agriturismo Dogana, Lucia's Italia Estate

About
At the heart of Umbria, between golden hills and centuries-old olive groves, Agriturismo Dogana stands as one of those places that changes the way you think about Italy. The Provincia di Perugia does not reveal its secrets easily — you have to go there, linger, let the landscape do its work. Lucia, the owner for many years, has transformed this restored farmhouse into a sanctuary for groups seeking something beyond mere accommodation.
The estate welcomes up to forty guests, spread across characterful rooms whose stone walls hold the cool air through sweltering summers. The communal spaces — shaded terraces, a dining room open to the vineyards, a kitchen equipped for group meals — have been designed so that groups can truly come together without ever getting in each other's way. The pool overlooking the Perugian hills quickly becomes the gravitational center of every afternoon.
What sets La Dogana apart is the intelligence of its hospitality. The couples who married there before 40 guests flown in from the United States still talk about it years later: a ceremony nestled in that landscape, carried by a team that anticipates every need before it is even expressed. Yoga retreat leaders who travel the world agree that Lucia's staff ranks among the most attentive and considerate they have ever encountered — a true gift in an industry where hospitality has become commonplace.
The table plays a central role. Local wines, produce from the Umbrian terroir, guided tours of neighboring vineyards: Lucia weaves a coherent culinary experience from breakfast to dinner, with a knowledge of the land that passes naturally to her guests.
What groups carry home in their suitcases when they leave La Dogana is more than a travel memory. It is the certainty of having shared something rare — a late-afternoon light on the hills, a bottle opened too late into the night, and that feeling that deep Italy, for a few days, belonged to them.

If you’re considering La Dogana as a guest or for your dream wedding, do it. My husband and I were married here, with 40 guests traveling from the US, and we still talk about how incredibly special our time at La Dogana was. I found La Dogana while researching European wedding venues and fell in love instantly. After our FaceTime venue tour, it was an immediate YES. We didn’t visit before the wedding, so our emails and Zoom calls meant everything to us. Lucia and Eleonora, our wedding planner, were beyond helpful—giving much needed guidance and recommendations for us and our guests every step of the way. When we finally arrived, my jaw dropped. The photos truly cannot capture the beauty, scale, and magic of this place. I’ve never felt so immersed in nature while staying somewhere so stunning. The charm is unreal, and I constantly dream of reliving our days there!!! Lucia and her staff’s love for La Dogana is deeply felt. They not only cared for my husban and I but for each and everyone of our guests. Making sure they too had a special experience. One of our friend’s had a wild travel day and they made sure she had dinner and a bottle of wine in her room, my other friend brought her 3 kids (one of which was just 2 months old) and they provided her with a nursing/kids area for each dinner we had, each of our guests with dietary restrictions were remembered and provided with DELICIOUS alternatives, this list could go on and on -- their kindness is unmatched!!! And the food… I still dream about the lasagna and those welcome dinner pastas. Getting married in such a beautiful place, with uninterrupted time to connect with your favorite people—while knowing everyone is so well cared for—is a gift I’ll always hold close!! Weddings are often described as stressful, but I can honestly say ours wasn’t. I love this place so much! THANK YOU, LA DOGANA, for being so VERY special!!
I’ve hosted yoga retreats all over the world and I can say with conviction that the staff at La Dogana Estate was one of (if not the most) most attentive, caring, forward thinking, accommodating staff’s ever! Our group of 24 had the most amazing week. We lived the grounds, the food, the tours that were arranged and alllll the views. We will definitely be back with another group! Thank you Lucia and team! Simply the best.
We had such a wonderful experience at La Dogana with Lucia. This was a yoga and wine retreat and we were thrilled by the quality of the food, wine, and knowledge of our tour guides. Lucia runs a fabulous facility and is accommodating to the extreme. We felt like family as we stayed with them and have already made plans to return!
Went on a yoga retreat, incredible experience. The food, the scenery, the people, the pets, whole atmosphere was an experience I’ll never forget. Thank you so very much for making an imprint in my heart. 🫶
La Dogana is family owned, and I felt welcomed from day one. The place is elegant and warm. Perched on the hills of Camaiore, cascading toward the lake, the setting immediately struck a chord, serene, panoramic and historical. As I strolled the olive groves, I imagined how the those before me harvested olives from the ancient groves. The building itself has been restored. It's a historic edifice with character, lofty ceilings, wood beams, and large windows. Our group was fortunate enough to dine on the panoramic veranda where we took in the sunset and lake breeze. The décor was clean and modern, and also sprinkled with rustic austere lighting, and thoughtful touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The kitchen staff clearly cared about quality. Their own wine (notably “Bianco di Frontiera,” a Vermentino) and house olive oil were featured nightly on the table. The ingredients were local, with a menu that showcased seasonal vegetables, and dishes that combined classic Tuscan technique with a few inventive flourishes. The service was attentive without being overbearing. I just cannot say enough good things about my stay at this place. The memories I made there will forever remain in the scrapbook within my mind.
