About

At the heart of the Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas — Spain's largest protected natural area — the village of Cazorla suspends its white-washed lanes between limestone cliffs and forests of centuries-old pines. The air carries wild rosemary and the scent of fresh olive oil, and the Andalusian light turns every late afternoon into a painting in its own right. It is in this setting that Accommodation Rural Martinez takes its place — a cottage rooted in local architectural tradition, with thick walls that hold the summer cool and exposed beams that recall how long these lands have held their memory.

The house receives a group with generosity: several bright bedrooms with comfortable bedding, a fully equipped kitchen for preparing finds from the local market — Iberian cured meats, sheep's milk cheeses, blood oranges — and a living space where evenings naturally stretch on over a glass of Andalusian brandy. In the mild season, the outdoor terrace becomes the beating heart of the stay, an ideal vantage point from which to watch the light slide slowly across the sierra's ridges before slipping away behind them.

Steps away, Cazorla spreads its ruined medieval castle against a cobalt sky, its cobbled squares alive with the conversations of regulars, its restaurants where game from the sierra — deer, wild boar — arrives directly from the surrounding forests. For lovers of the outdoors, the nature park's trails open up right at the edge of the village: the headwaters of the Guadalquivir, vertiginous gorges, griffon vultures gliding on thermals above the ridgelines.

What guests carry away from Cazorla is not really a postcard. It is rather that rare feeling of having brushed up against an authentic Spain, far from the tourist trail, where time still holds the weight of an afternoon nap in the shade of the olive trees. A memory that travels well.

A complete disaster!! We left a day early because it was unbearable. They marked my reservation as canceled on Booking.com when it wasn't, just so I wouldn't leave a negative review. We were there, but we left a day early because it was unbearable. The house is surrounded by wasp nests, and you can't even open a single window without 20 wasps flying inside. We couldn't even use the terrace (the only reason we chose this apartment when there were much better ones for the same or lower price). The service was incredibly unpleasant. As soon as we arrived, the woman was yelling at me on the phone, asking if I thought it was a hotel and that she couldn't be there waiting for me, even though I had given her my arrival time and only called to let her know we were at the door, not to complain. The house is very cramped, the air conditioning doesn't work properly and makes a horrible noise even when it's off, the kitchen doesn't have an oven or a dishwasher, but the worst thing, without a doubt, is that you can't open a single window to ventilate the house because of the wasps. The mattress was terrible. In short, a disaster. My son even got sick, with a fever from the heat he endured at night because he couldn't even open the windows. I intend to request a review from Booking.com, and if that's not possible, they shouldn't have charged me for the entire stay. I've traveled all over the world and I've never had an experience like this, much less in my own country. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Not recommended at all. The owners were rude, aggressive, and arrogant, ruining what was supposed to be a peaceful weekend in what seemed like perfect accommodation. I don't know where the photos are from, but they're certainly not from this rural guesthouse. As soon as I told them, they started shouting and became very aggressive. Beware of them. I hope this bad experience doesn't happen to anyone else.

Unprofessional, unpunctual, and overreacting. After making us wait 30 minutes late (despite having notified us of our arrival time in advance), almost causing us to lose a lunch reservation, and without even apologizing, they proceeded to cancel our reservation an hour and a half after we had already checked in. The reason: they didn't like that we told them we were late and had been kept waiting. Unacceptable! We are awaiting Booking.com's resolution of this issue.

The apartments are perfectly equipped and clean, in an excellent location for exploring the town without needing a car, and Mercedes, the host, is a delight. Always available for anything you need.

Great location, friendly service from the hostess, and everything was very clean and well-equipped. Be careful in the summer about opening the windows during the day, as the neighboring rooftops are full of wasps and they can easily get in. In my case, there was someone with allergies who was nearly stung by wasps. I understand it's the neighbors' problem, but it wouldn't hurt to install mosquito nets to prevent this. It might seem trivial, but if you're not aware of it, it can ruin your vacation, and it's an easy fix.
