In fondo alla valle del Bidasoa, là dove il Paese Basco navarrese respira ancora all'aria aperta, Sunbilla si aggrappa alle sue colline come se il tempo avesse deciso di attardarsi. Le montagne avvolgono il villaggio, le foreste di faggi scendono fino ai prati, e si capisce subito perché qualcuno ha avuto l'idea di chiamare questa casa *GureLur* — «la nostra terra» in euskara. Un nome che dice tutto.
Il cottage si inserisce in questo paesaggio con una tranquilla evidenza. Pensato per i grandi gruppi, accoglie fino a una decina di persone in camere spaziose e ben disposte, ognuna con abbastanza intimità perché ogni ospite possa avere il proprio ritmo. Il soggiorno si apre su uno spazio comune generoso, la cucina è attrezzata per veri pasti condivisi, e gli esterni invitano tanto al passeggio ozioso quanto alle tavolate prolungate sotto il cielo di Navarra. Sette persone, dieci, una famiglia ricostituita, un gruppo di amici di vecchia data — la casa assorbe tutto senza mai sembrare sovraffollata.
Ciò che fa davvero la differenza qui è Maialen. Padrona di casa d'eccezione, elogiata in quasi ogni recensione — 4,9 su 5 per 75 soggiorni —, è una di quelle persone che rendono un luogo abitabile fin dalla prima ora. Sempre disponibile, attenta senza essere invadente, conosce i dintorni come casa propria e sa indicare i sentieri che meritano di essere percorsi, i mercati, i frontoni della pelota, i piccoli ristoranti che non figurano in nessuna lista.
I dintorni offrono di che riempire intere giornate: escursioni nella Sierra de Aralar, bagni nei fiumi di montagna, gite a Pamplona o San Sebastián che non sono mai troppo lontane. Ma molti scelgono anche di non fare nulla, semplicemente di abitare il silenzio della valle.
Quello che gli ospiti portano via da GureLur non è una lista di attività spuntate. È l'immagine di un pasto che si è protratto ben oltre il dessert, la luce radente della sera sulle creste, e la rara certezza di aver davvero staccato.

We stayed at the house a few weeks ago, and I must admit Maialen is one of the best hosts I have ever met. Kind, generous, ready to help any minute, always with smile! We did bug her quite a bit, and I apprreciate Maialen's kindness a lot! Thank you. Beautiful house and amazing landscape attached to an amazing host - and so you get an ideal place to stay:)
We had a wonderful three nights in this country house. The layout is ideal, with spacious and well-organized rooms that allow for plenty of independence, even for a large group (there were seven of us, a baby, and two dogs). The house is very well-equipped and maintained, with everything you need for daily life, and we especially want to highlight the impeccable cleanliness. The garden is perfect if you're traveling with dogs, and the porch with a barbecue (and a beer tap!) is a real bonus, whether the weather is good or bad. Furthermore, the location is excellent for exploring the surrounding villages. Without a doubt, a highly recommended option for enjoying a relaxing getaway with a group.
It was an incredible weekend at Maialen's country house. She was an excellent and very attentive host. The house is beautiful, very clean and well-maintained. The surroundings are spectacular. We will definitely be back.
The house is excellently equipped, both with the basics and extras, and the outdoor area with its fabulous barbecue and cider and beer taps is fantastic. Everything was spotless. The hostess is very friendly and attentive to everything at all times. Furthermore, the house is in a beautiful, fairytale-like village. We will definitely return as soon as we have the chance.
We had a wonderful holiday; it's a very nice house, very well equipped, with everything you need to enjoy yourself. During the heatwave, the cider and beer taps were a lifesaver! The owner was attentive, friendly, and discreet. Everything was perfect. They also have bikes available for exploring the greenway, which I highly recommend.
