Mas La Provence

A stone's throw from the Provençal Colorado — those blazing ochres that rise from the garrigue like a painting from ancient Egypt —, Rustrel keeps a rare promise: that of a Provence still preserved, far from the coastal crowds. It is here, in the heart of the Luberon, that Mas La Provence anchors its stone walls in a landscape that smells of thyme, lavender, and pine resin.

The mas welcomes up to 21 guests across its 6 bedrooms, making it an ideal setting for large family gatherings, weekends with friends, or celebrations that deserve to unfold at their own pace. The living spaces open naturally to the outside: shaded terraces, a generous garden, and at the center of it all, the pool — a true focal point of life during the long days of July and August when the Provençal sun beats down hard and high.

Come evening, the barbecue takes over. Vegetables from the Apt market are grilled, lamb chops from the Alpilles are browned to perfection, a bottle of Luberon red is opened while watching the sky turn orange. Wi-Fi remains available for those who can't fully disconnect, but the magic of the place often works better than any resolution to unplug. The dishwasher and washing machine handle everyday life without friction, so that all 21 guests can focus their energy on what matters: being together.

Days unfold at their own pace — a morning hike through the ochres of Rustrel, a nap under the oak trees, an aperitif that stretches well into dinner. The village retains that rare quality of old Provençal life, with its cobbled lanes and murmuring fountains.
