Mama Lucia

About
On the heights of Monte Baldo, a few switchbacks above Lake Garda, San Zeno di Montagna moves at its own pace — the pace of chestnut trees, morning mists, and sunsets that set the Veronese plain ablaze all the way to the horizon. It is in this village suspended between sky and water that Mama Lucia has settled, with the particular tranquility of places that have nothing to prove.
The chalet lives up to its name. From the moment you arrive, something in the air recalls a family kitchen on a Sunday evening — the warmth of the wood, the scent of resin, and that feeling of being expected. The rooms are spread across several levels to comfortably accommodate a large group, with enough shared spaces for everyone to find their corner: a generous living room by the fireplace, a west-facing terrace from which the view over the mountains is, according to travelers themselves, "superb at sunset." This is not a brochure promise — it is exactly what one comes here looking for.
The kitchen, large and well-equipped for cooking together, naturally invites impromptu meals and evenings that stretch on. But Mama Lucia is also a place that delights on-site: the pizzas come out of the oven with that homemade character you don't find everywhere, the local wines are honest and the prices are equally so. The staff are part of the setting in the best sense of the word — attentive, unpretentious, never intrusive. Passing travelers, surprised to have found the restaurant full elsewhere, came back several evenings in a row. That says it all.
Around the chalet, the trails of Monte Baldo open right from the doorstep: hikes up to the ridges, descents toward the lakeside villages, day trips to Verona less than an hour away. But the real magic of Mama Lucia is what you take with you when you leave — not landscape photos, but the memory of a group gathered around a table, a glass raised at dusk, and that golden light falling slowly over the mountains as if it, too, wanted to stay.

We stumbled upon this place after our first spot was totally full for the evening. What luck! Our pizza dinner was SO delicious, the staff were so kind, and the atmosphere made us feel like we were on vacation! (we live just in Verona in the city center) I can't wait to come back here! Thanks ragazzi!
very nice restaurant with affordable prices. we didn’t have a reservation on a sunday but luckly found a table outside. pizzas and wine were both delicious!
Great food, friendly and helpful staff and (if you come at the right time) a superb sunset over the mountains while you eat. We kept going back.
Awesome pizza! Go to place in San Zeno! Nice people and good food for a reasonable price. You can sit outside, inside or get a take away pizza. The staff is helpful and really nice! Speaking Italian, English and German. The Ristorante is a few meters off the main road of San Zeno up the hill but worth every centimeter.
You have to eat here. The food is amazing. The staff is great - a girl working there recommended sea food and i must say it left me speechless. Great hospitality. Great food. Great pizza
