Les Gites de la Léonière
About
Les Gites de la Léonière accommodates up to 23 people across 9 rooms, making it a property sized for large family or friend groups, located in Saint-Mathurin in the Pays de la Loire region. The carefully maintained garden is the heart of the property: it features a private pool and jacuzzi, along with a barbecue area for outdoor meals for the whole group. Inside, a dishwasher and washing machine ease the logistics of multi-day stays, and games are available on-site to keep evenings or rainy days entertaining.
Upkeep is thorough — several guests highlight spotless cleanliness — and the overall layout of the cottage proves well suited to around twenty people. The owner is attentive and available without being intrusive. The stay is governed by a strict house rulebook that some guests found restrictive: reading it before arrival is recommended to avoid any friction. The terrace works well during the day but lacks lighting in the evening.
Saint-Mathurin is located in the Vendée, on the edge of the Pays de la Loire, in a quiet rural setting with easy access from major road routes. The property is rated 4.4/5 based on 25 Google reviews. It is best suited to groups looking for a well-equipped, clean shared space with private water access and enough capacity for large gatherings.

Very clean, but so many restrictions; it makes the stay stressful. More flexibility would be welcome... even if you happen to encounter people who don't respect the rules... but others shouldn't have to pay for them.

A pleasant weekend. The cottage is very well suited for 20 people. The garden is very well maintained. The owner is discreet and attentive. The only thing missing is lighting on the terrace.

The cottage was clean and suitable for a group of 20 people. However, it was unpleasant to find video surveillance of the garden, including the pool and terrace. The pool was only accessible from 10 am to 8 pm (not mentioned in the contract), and the owner made several inappropriate incursions during the day. Avoid this property.

The cottage is spacious and quiet, with an enclosed garden and a lovely pool, but it's poorly maintained and very equipped. There were 17 of us renting it in August 2022, and the second stay was unusable as we didn't have access to the second television. There was no Wi-Fi, no toaster, and the garden furniture was in poor condition. The manager works on his Peugeot 205 all day long right in front of us, which somewhat spoils the atmosphere. We don't recommend it.
