Le Presbytère de Fourdrain

The building has kept the soul of what it once was: solid, generous, built to welcome. Today, it opens its 8 rooms to groups of up to 27 people seeking to reconnect away from the bustle of cities. Large families gathered around a table, friends who don't see each other nearly enough, teams in search of fresh air — all find here the space to be together without getting in each other's way.

Evenings often begin around the fireplace, in the generously proportioned sitting room, before conversation spills over into the fully equipped kitchen, complete with a dishwasher that handles the aftermath of overlong meals without complaint. Mornings belong to the early risers: steaming coffee, raking light across the garden, the silence of the countryside. Then the rest of the group arrives, and the house stirs at its own pace.

When the weather is fine, the pool becomes the natural center of gravity. The barbecue takes over in the late afternoon, smoke and laughter drifting together above the hedgerows. For evenings that stretch on, the games available on-site have a way of revealing unexpected personalities — and sometimes rivalries.
