Le Mas des 3 ânes

In the Quercy Blanc, where the limestone causses dissolve into a gentle lushness that the South has not yet scorched, the village of Blars keeps something rare intact: the inhabited silence of the Occitanie lands. It is here, away from the tourist routes, that the Mas des 3 Ânes has settled in over time — stone by stone, season after season.

The mas welcomes up to 29 people, spread across 5 generous rooms where the coolness of thick walls serves as natural air conditioning. You don't come here to be crammed together; you come to rediscover space — real space. Large communal meals arrange themselves naturally, the dishwasher handles the morning after the festivities, and the wifi does what it needs to do without anyone being forced to use it.

The pool is the beating heart of summer at the mas. Afternoons stretch out there with the generosity particular to the South-West: a dip, a nap in the shade of the leaves, a glass of Lot wine served a touch too cold. Around it, the children invent tournaments, the adults pretend to watch, and everyone ends up playing — the games provided only accompany what settles into place on its own.

In the evening, when the golden light grazes the causses and the scent of thyme drifts in through the open windows, Blars reveals its true nature: a land of chosen slowness, just a few kilometres from the Célé canyon and the hilltop villages that have inspired generations of painters.

What groups take away when they leave is rarely what they expected. Less the sights ticked off a list than the feel of a meal that lasted four hours, the blurry photo of a sunrise over the causse, or simply the certainty that 29 people can live together — and sometimes, even truly find each other again.
