LE GUE DES FILLES

We celebrated a truly fantastic birthday weekend at the Gîte du Gué des Filles (a group of 39 people, mostly in their 30s)! First of all, the grounds are beautifully maintained, with sun loungers and plenty of outdoor games (pétanque balls, rackets, a volleyball net, a ping-pong table, balls, etc.). The shaded terrace is also very appealing, with a lovely "guinguette" (open-air café) feel. A good-sized, sheltered barbecue completes the picture. Furthermore, the kitchen in the main gîte is exceptional, being very well-equipped and very practical for large groups (huge fridge, professional dishwasher, ice maker, etc.). The interiors are also functional, with double and triple bedrooms as well as dormitories. Finally, the sound and lighting system (optional) is very easy to use and allows you to create a great atmosphere all night long. To top it all off, the owners are responsive and helpful. A small point to note: please remember to close the patio doors securely in the evening and refrain from shouting after 11 pm to minimize disturbance to the neighbors, who live next to the park. In response to Mrs. Sophia Kharchafi's review. Here are some photos of the condition of the property as returned, which will speak for themselves... A small clarification: the additional amount requested for "cleaning" was €80, which was not paid. We showed Mrs. Kharchafi the property a few months earlier, and she could only confirm that we weren't lost in the middle of nowhere, but rather with neighbors. Luckily for us, this was the only time the property was returned to us in this condition! Regarding noise, please refer to the regulations in force and our general terms and conditions. The place is convenient for large groups given the number of beds, with several separate bedrooms for families, which is why I chose it. However, the stay ended badly due to a major disagreement with the owners that ruined my holiday. First of all, be aware that this gîte has had new owners since last year, so reviews before 2024 don't apply to them. The contract I signed clearly stated that cleaning was included, but when we left, the owners asked us for extra money for cleaning because, according to them, we hadn't cleaned the spaces thoroughly enough (indeed, considering we had paid almost €5,000 for 4 nights with cleaning included...). They seemed accommodating at first, but then when we reported some issues, particularly with the sound system which, depending on what we plugged into it, crackled loudly, making it almost unusable, we received no understanding or apology whatsoever, not even for their cat, which, while very cute, urinated in the building, spreading a very unpleasant odor, and woke us up three times in the middle of the night by meowing. The check-out procedure was unclear, and no instructions were posted anywhere. Also, the place is more suitable for a family gathering than for a wedding or a large birthday party, as noise is prohibited outside after 10 or 11 pm. There are neighbors, which we hadn't expected given that the cottage seemed isolated in the countryside, and not being able to have a party and having to constantly monitor the noise outside in the evening and at night is frankly inconvenient when you want to enjoy the festivities. If you plan to rent the cottage, make sure you clearly understand the conditions and rules and read your contract carefully... We had signed with the previous owners and we did not expect to be treated like this.
