You arrive as a group, you settle in, and very quickly the house organizes life in its own way: some gather around the fireplace as the evenings cool, others take over the kitchen, equipped with a dishwasher and a washing machine — a detail that matters when thirty people are sharing a space for several days. Wi-Fi follows you everywhere, for those who truly cannot switch off.

Outside, the barbecue naturally becomes the focal point of the afternoons. Vire andouille sausages picked up at the Gisors market sizzle away, while children explore the garden and adults negotiate a turn in the games area. Giverny is just a handful of kilometers away: Monet's gardens are worth a morning, and you return with eyes full of color and a craving for self-sufficiency that keeps you on-site for the rest of the stay.

The Norman Vexin is best explored on foot or by bicycle — the loops that follow the Epte are gentle, dotted with small chapels and half-timbered farmhouses that resemble La Maison Saint Nicolas like a sister. You come back with mud on your soles, cider in the trunk, and that feeling that time had a different texture here.
