We did not feel very welcome here. The host was unresponsive when we had a few teething issues (we tried the intercom, texting and messaging on Airbnb) and she then spoke rudely in French in front of us, assuming we didn’t understand. We did. And it put a damper on our stay. When we arrived, we were not warmly greeted but instead we were told that we had made the host late for dinner and then given a 5-minute lecture on bin instructions. We were also told that the last family spent too much time in the shared pool and we shouldn’t do that. Not how you want to be welcomed after a 6 hour drive with children. It’s a shame to leave such a poor review as we really wanted to like this place and overall we made the best of it. The grounds were lovely and the pool was very nice. I would however also call out that the bathroom was mouldy. It smelled damp and the shower never drained properly.

We spent a weekend with friends at La Girardière and it was absolutely fantastic! Everything was perfect: a warm welcome, a magnificent setting, and a stunning sunset from the terrace. A large estate with a swimming pool, horses, games, and plenty of places to walk. We felt right at home, and the hosts are truly lovely. We can't wait to go back!

We received an excellent welcome at Domaine de la Girardière during a weekend spent with friends. Located in the heart of the Vendée region, it's an ideal setting to relax and reconnect with nature. The grounds are particularly well-maintained, the bedding is of excellent quality, and the bathrooms are spacious. To top it all off, the swimming pool is delightful.
