About

At the heart of the Jerte Valley, nestled between an oak forest and cherry orchards, Casas Rurales La Casería is far more than a simple place to stay. This former 16th-century monastic estate, tucked into the generous nature of Extremadura, exudes a rare atmosphere where absolute peace blends with the warmth of a family that welcomes you as one of their own. From the very first steps onto the property, time seems to lighten, and the quiet beauty of the surrounding landscapes naturally invites you to breathe.

The property can accommodate up to 22 people, spread between the large main house and the smaller cottages that complement it, allowing each group to find its own space while remaining together. The swimming pool adds the perfect finishing touch to this natural setting, promising lovely refreshing breaks after a morning spent exploring the surroundings.

This is where reunions find their full meaning. Imagine a weekend with cousins, everyone settled into their own cottage yet all gathered around a long outdoor meal, laughter carried on the valley breeze. La Casería has that precious ability to bring a large group together under the same ancestral roof without ever feeling cramped. The evenings here are gentle, the mornings peaceful, and every corner of the estate seems to invite you to slow down, to linger, to savor the moment fully.

With a rating of 4.6/5 across 92 reviews, travelers are unanimous: an exceptional place, unspoiled nature, and a family that goes above and beyond. Whether for a family reunion, a getaway with friends, or simply a chance to step outside into the open air, La Casería delivers on every promise. You come for the beauty of the place. You leave wanting to return.

Stayed here in early July. A peaceful, and very beautiful location with lots of history. The family who run it are incredibly friendly and helpful. Lovely swimming pool. Would love to visit again.

When looking for rural accommodation in the Jerte Valley area, this place caught my eye. It's nestled in nature, between an oak forest and cherry orchards. It was a monastery back in the 16th century, and it's understandable that the monks chose this peaceful, natural setting. Now renovated and used as rural accommodation, it includes the small monastery itself, which can accommodate a large family in separate rooms. Enjoy its charming decor, magnificent lounge, and, of course, the outdoor spaces. There are also small apartments for couples, each with its own kitchen, bathroom, small living room, and even a terrace. The silence is almost divine, broken only by the occasional birdsong. This, combined with the excellent service, makes for a wonderful holiday. We loved it.

A group of cousins had a get-together from May 28th to 31st, 2026. A total of 22 people booked the entire property, both the large house and the smaller ones. Everything was fantastic: a beautiful location, and the houses were incredibly well-equipped with every detail thought of for a wonderful stay. Victoria, who was in charge of welcoming guests, was wonderful—super attentive and always making sure we had everything we needed. The cooking was superb. In short, highly recommended. We'll definitely be back!

Highly recommended. Located in a spectacular and peaceful setting, surrounded by nature. The scenery is beautiful, whether in spring, summer, or autumn. The owners are delightful. We've been going for several years with friends and children of various ages, at different times of the year, and we always feel very comfortable and enjoy it immensely.

The house itself was very nice, but the owners were problematic. They would occasionally come around to "check on" what was happening. There were signs prohibiting ball games on the lawn area around the pool, and they told us off for stepping directly on them. We stayed two nights, and they came by four or five times to watch us. Not to mention that they walk their dogs there, one of them a large breed, even though we had paid extra for a small dog. Not recommended at all if you're traveling with young children who want to play, or in groups/families.
