Casa Rural Landazelaia

About
Casa Rural Landazelaia sleeps up to 12 people under one roof, in a country house whose actual dimensions far exceed what the photos suggest. Ideal for a family weekend, a birthday celebration with friends, a small-group seminar, or a gathering of loved ones, it offers enough space for everyone to find their place without getting in each other's way.
The bedrooms are arranged to ensure a comfortable night's sleep for all: beds in good condition, carefully chosen linens, well-ventilated rooms. The shared spaces — living room, dining room, kitchen — are large enough for twelve adults to coexist without feeling cramped. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment, making it possible to prepare group meals without improvising or buying anything extra. Groups who have spent a full weekend at the house speak to an interior layout designed with communal living in mind.
In terms of upkeep, the house is clean and well maintained, something guests consistently note. The host, Manuel, is responsive and available, which makes organizing both before and during the stay straightforward.
The location is a genuine asset for a group looking to combine relaxation with exploration. Gartzain sits at the heart of the Baztan Valley, in Navarrese Basque Country, just a few minutes' drive from Elizondo, Arizcun, Amaiur, Urdax, and Zugarramurdi. The region's villages, hiking trails, and historical sites are easily reached from the house, with no lengthy drive to plan around.
With a rating of 4.7/5 across 33 reviews, Casa Rural Landazelaia stands out as a reliable option for groups who want to sleep under one roof, share meals together, and set out to explore a region that sees few visitors but has plenty of character.

A fantastic house, perfectly located for exploring the Baztan Valley, Elizondo, Arizcun, Amaiur, Urdax, Zugarramurdi, Erratzu... So many beautiful places. Manuel was very attentive, and the house suited our needs perfectly. The terrace off the living room/kitchen is spectacular, with amazing views and so peaceful...

We spent the weekend there—nine adults and a baby. The house was perfectly equipped and well-maintained. Spacious, clean, with comfortable beds, and it had all kinds of kitchenware and utensils. We enjoyed it immensely. Perfect for spending a few days with friends.

We rented the whole house last weekend and it was fantastic. The house is huge inside; the photos don't do it justice. We were a group of 12, and both the bedrooms and the common areas are very spacious. Everything was spotless, and the kitchen had plenty of good-quality utensils. Downstairs, there's a foosball table and ping-pong table, which the children thoroughly enjoyed, along with other games in the dining room. The outdoor area with swings and a landscaped garden is wonderful. We used the wood-fired grill at the house, and it worked perfectly. Manu, the host, was always very attentive and helpful. The house is located in a quiet area but is also just a 30-minute walk or 5-minute drive from the center of Elizondo. Overall, highly recommended.

From Saint Jean Pie de Port, we set off on foot in search of the Baztanes Trail, passing through Saint Etienne de Baigorri and crossing the Pyrenees to reach Spain via the Alto de Izpegui pass. From there, we continued to Arizcum and finally to Elizondo. It was an absolutely stunning route, so much beauty in one place is hard to find: beech forests, ferns, walnut trees... Luck was on our side when we found Manuel's rural guesthouse, an impressive place, right on the outskirts of Elizondo, next to a supermarket, some beautiful rugby fields, and a couple of charming villages surrounded by green fields, pine trees, and abundant vegetation. The house has three floors; the ground floor has the sports area, with foosball, ping-pong, and so on. On the first floor, there's a living-dining room with a terrace and a table for ten, and a spacious, fully equipped kitchen. At the end of the hallway, there's a comfortable double bedroom with a balcony overlooking the countryside, and an en-suite bathroom. On the third floor, there are four more well-equipped and spacious double bedrooms. All three floors have a bathroom and a toilet. There's indoor parking and a large garden at the back with swings for children and a barbecue for adults. Manu, the owner, is a delightful person. Young and somewhat shy, he renovated this old family home and transformed it into two separate houses; he lives in the other one. He's very accommodating; you hardly ever see him, as he works away from home. You don't have to bother him at all because everything is in perfect working order, and if anything were to go wrong, he's a handyman. The town of Elizondo is beautiful, with unspoiled nature, an unparalleled setting, and countless walking trails. We continued on to Pamplona in search of the French Way of the Camino de Santiago.
