Good value for money. Country house near a river and surrounded by nature. A very beautiful place.
Spectacular rural accommodation in the heart of the Baztán Valley! It's about 3 km from Erratzu, a beautiful little village. Surrounded by nature, it's perfect if you're looking to disconnect from everything (be aware, there's almost no cell service!). The rooms are very comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the heating works wonderfully. If you want to get lost in Baztán and relax, this is the place for you.
Simple house in a very pretty location, but it needs a lot of cleaning and there were bugs in the master bedroom. It has cameras inside the apartment, which I didn't like as it affects your privacy. It's one thing to have cameras at the entrance to the house from the outside to see who enters, and quite another to have them inside. It's located on the main road, so it's a bit tricky to find the first time, about 3 km from the town of Erratzu. There's a bar there that sells bread and other supplies. It has quite a bit of kitchenware: pans, pots, etc.
I can't comment on the accommodation itself, but I can warn future guests about the owners' practices. I made a reservation for the Martikotenea house for two days during Easter week. I paid and received confirmation. I informed them of my arrival time and received confirmation from the house. So far, everything was fine and normal. I was happy and started planning my vacation, buying tickets for activities in the area. The surprise came a few hours later... A call from the owner to tell me I didn't have accommodation. Her excuse was that other people with later reservations had decided to arrive earlier and that she had accepted... (at this point, my surprise turned to outrage!). The solution she offered was to change my dates! After I told her that wasn't possible, she unilaterally canceled my reservation, leaving me with nothing: I had paid for a stay (the money was withdrawn from my account) and I had neither accommodation nor my money back. So the surroundings are beautiful, but there are many houses in the area with a more ethical and professional approach.
The area is spectacular. It's well located in the Baztan Valley. Malen, the owner, is very friendly and welcoming, always willing to help and provide information. From here, my family and I have traveled around the valley without any problems (Sare Caves, Urdax, Zugarramurdi, Bertiz Estate, Elizondo, etc.). I didn't give it 5 stars because of the beds. Although we usually sleep well anywhere, the beds could be better. Otherwise, it's fantastic. Highly recommended.
