Château Morin

17/20: Beautiful renovation project PROS: Location: Being on the edge of the village centre, the Château is both very close to the train station and a large parking. Many points of interest are a short drive away (e.g., Semur-en-Auxois) Facilities: The Château is equipped with a grill and a barbecue, which are very convenient to feed larger groups. The kitchen is equipped with two coffee machines (with coffee grains), three fridges, and a dishwasher, which is fairly useful for longer stays and allows for large group groceries to be stored easily. The beds were very comfortable. Château: The owner did a great job at safekeeping many of the architectural features of this old house. The dormitories are especially beautiful with their old wooden doors and parquet floors. Variety of room sizes to accommodate the different needs of a group (e.g., parental suites, dormitories, single rooms, etc.) Personnel: The owner lives nearby, which was really convenient to organise our stay. Good local tips as well (e.g., village bakery, etc.) CONS: Facilities: Although they were fully functional, the bathrooms and the kitchen were a bit outdated. It does the job, but it makes the experience less immersive. Conclusion: Great place for a group of friends or families. Makes many things easy to organise (e.g., food or transportation). It's always nice to see historical buildings coming back to life, we hope that the renovation project will keep improving the Château.

I agree with the previous reviewers. This gîte should not have been rented out. The dishwasher and refrigerator in the kitchen were not working. There was only one functioning toilet for 20 people in the main building, and the showers were in a terrible state. The "annex bathroom," also in a terrible condition, was located in a hallway connecting the bedrooms. The bedding in the double rooms seemed adequate. However, the beds in the dormitory were very low quality, with the springs on the bunk bed creaking with the slightest movement. The swimming pool advertised was not located in the gîte. I also didn't appreciate the security camera filming us outside.

We were quite disappointed with this accommodation after staying 3 nights for a birthday in May 2026. The major issues were: - A kitchen with a broken refrigerator (it doesn't close properly) and a leaky dishwasher. - The bathrooms, where the renovations appear to have been poorly done or simply unfinished. Only 2 out of the 3 advertised were usable. - Only 1 of the 3 advertised toilets was usable. Some doors didn't close properly, particularly the cellar door (security) and one bathroom door (privacy), adding to the overall impression of a property that wasn't well-maintained enough to be rented out in good condition. The annex, although provided, is completely unrenovated. At least this provided a second toilet for a group of 20 people... There's no swimming pool on site, despite being advertised... It's a shame because the location and the cottage have potential, but as it stands, the gap between the description and reality is clearly unsatisfactory.

I spent a weekend there with a group of friends and it was a wonderful stay. Very peaceful, comfortable beds, and plenty of space for a group of friends or family. Highly recommended for parties or gatherings.

The cottage has potential, but too much of the equipment is in poor condition: only one working toilet, a dirty BBQ, and a broken dishwasher. It's really not practical for a group.
