Villa Mas Estrada

A very large house in two to three separate "houses" to sleep upwards of 30 people. The place can be split into two distinct rentable parts - each with a pool and very extensive grounds. Various terraces and other outdoor seating areas. Large covered area with oven and sink. Comfortable rooms and plenty of bathrooms - I don't think any rooms are actually en suite but there are plenty of showers / toilets etc for a large party. Isolated position means it's quiet and private. It's surrounded by high hedges and fencing and therefore very secluded. Overall it's an excellent choice for large family or friend groups to rent. All the bedrooms have both shutters and flyscreens, they are completely dark at night and almost bug free. Well provided for large and efficient fridges and freezers (6) ovens and hobs a plenty. There is plenty of parking for multiple vehicles - via both of the key fob operated electric gates. Access to the house as a whole is via a rough gravel track - one longer and a little smoother, one shorter and rougher. Nearest shops (Aldi / Dia / Mercadona & more) are a 5-10 minute drive. Cafés and restaurants are a similar distance. Lots of opportunities to walk / run / cycle right from the property. The coast is 30-40 minutes drive away if you want that kind of thing. Girona is 30 minutes drive away and definitely worth a visit. The nearest railway station is Sils (10 minutes drive) and you can get to Girona or Barcelona (& the airport) easily from there. Girona airport is really near and you can dispense with car hire if you fly there and plan to stay near to the property for your stay - It's a relatively cheap taxi ride away. Overall it's a great place to stay, the host seems to be very pleasant and helpful. They were responsive to requests for things like an iron and an ironing board - if you really need these things. The WiFi is good, and there are some TV screens, pool tables, table football, music system etc etc. There are outdoor children's play areas, tree houses (2) and swings. Lots of grassed areas for playing etc. On the negative side of things (these shouldn't put you off overall as they def didn't spoil our stay and the positives far outweigh them) : there are all sorts of financial penalties for transgressions - glasses at the pool, wrong waste in the recycling, furniture being moved, and so on. The interior is dark and gloomy and the decor is a bit dated. The crockery is all little weird - literally hundreds of plates and saucers, dozens and dozens of cups in every conceivable size, a massive quantity of mismatched glassware. My suggestion for the biggest improvement for the whole place would be to give away (or alternatively host a Greek night and smash it all) every single plate, saucer, cup, glass, mug, etc and replace them throughout the house with a standard set of crockery from IKEA!

if you are looking for a peaceful, away from everything location for a family get together then i would thoroughly recommend. We had both villas for 19 family members of ages 11 to 84 years - plenty of space, great indoor and outdoor facilities. We lived by the big pool, loved all the games and swings etc and the main outdoor kitchen was a fantastic social space. Decor is traditional and whole place is rustic - nothing too fancy so it's simple to live in and look after. Great supermarket 10 mins away and we had Tapas and Paella feasts supplied by Joseph's team - definitely recommend. Joseph and Cris were attentive and very helpful and take great care of their properties and their guests. Be prepared for a thorough and detailed booking process - but this ensures everything is spot on and considered before, during and qt the end of your stay. Joseph can also recommend local suppliers for food and transport - we contacted Eva from Marselbus and she was great too. We hope to return again.
