Enclavado en las colinas de Cazorla, a las puertas del parque natural más grande de Andalucía, el Cortijo los Abedules es una finca agrícola tradicional que reúne varios apartamentos independientes en torno a amplias zonas comunes. El conjunto puede alojar cómodamente a unas veinte personas, con habitaciones espaciosas y alojamientos adaptados a distintas configuraciones familiares.
Para un grupo, la organización del espacio marca la diferencia. Cada apartamento dispone de su propia intimidad, pero todos abren al mismo jardín cuidado plantado de olivos centenarios — un espacio de desconexión donde las conversaciones se prolongan naturalmente a la sombra de los árboles. La piscina, tranquila y bien mantenida, se convierte en el centro de gravedad de las tardes. El patio central invita a las cenas colectivas al aire libre: lo suficientemente grande para reunir a todos alrededor de una misma mesa, sin necesidad de repartirse entre varias estancias.
La cocina está equipada para afrontar preparaciones de verdad a escala de grupo, y la limpieza de los espacios compartidos — señalada con regularidad en las reseñas — evita las fricciones habituales de la convivencia.
El cortijo resulta especialmente adecuado para fines de semana en familia extensa, cumpleaños señalados, retiros profesionales informales y despedidas de soltero o soltera que buscan salir de los formatos urbanos. Para una boda íntima con alojamiento en el lugar, el entorno rural y la flexibilidad de los espacios ofrecen una opción coherente. La proximidad inmediata con Cazorla da acceso al senderismo, a la observación de fauna y a los pueblos de la Sierra, lo que permite estructurar fácilmente un programa de actividades para varios días.
Los anfitriones, Diana y Roger, están presentes sin resultar intrusivos — un equilibrio que los visitantes destacan sistemáticamente, y que tiene su importancia cuando se gestiona la organización de un grupo.

We had an amazing weekend. The cortijo is surrounded by olive trees, the beautiful garden and the peaceful swimming pool contribute to a lovely atmosphere. Diana and Roger are kind and nice hosts. We would love to come back!
Beautiful house, nice patio to have dinner al fresco, and quite convenient swimming pool. House was clean, kitchen OK with everything we needed and rooms big. Location is very good, very close to Cazorla, but being in the middle of olive trees, it is a very quite place, the sky in the night is amazing, full of stars. Owners are quite friendly. Access to the house is well indicated and the path is OK.
Your hosts have created the perfect place for your holiday home. With a choice of accommodation to suit most needs; each apartment has access to the restful gardens where one can unwind and shed the cares of life. There is a swimming pool and an area for sunbathing. Excellent for a relaxing stay, away from it all, yet all is still within easy reach. The Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas is on the doorstep where all the delights of nature, wildlife, scenery and more are at hand. One can see how mountains were formed and are still being sculpted by erosion and by man. One can see vultures circling over your head as in the cartoons of the man lost in the desert, yet not be worried. At the Centro de Interpretación de Madera at Vadillo Castril, one can see how and why this area was created a “maritime province” so far from the sea, followed, in more recent times, by how it facilitated the development of the railways in Spain. Visit the birthplace of the great Rio Guadalquivir and many other "secret" places in the areas not open to the general public by taking one of the 4x4 guided tours. In the courtyard of the castle of Segura de Sierra there are various displays of how life used to be and how they coped in olden times followed by lunch in the village, itself. There are many other interesting villages to explore, all within easy reach. Yet, as if this were not enough, one is close to two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Baeza and Úbeda both full of history. A little farther away, to the south, in Guadix and its surrounds, one is into Troglodyte country, where houses are carved into the soft clay (which then hardens into a rock-like substance,) to give homes that are cool in summer but warm in winter. To the North there is more to interest one with the Natural Park de Despeñaperros (where they throw dogs) reputed to be where the Christians threw the bodies of the Moors following the battle at Navas de Toloso. The old road that passes through the defile offers some stunning scenery, now without the traffic since the opening of the new road. There are also several more Natural Parks within easy reach, the Sierra Mágina and the Sierra de Andujar to the west and the northwest respectively, then crossing over into Granada province to the southeast, there are the Sierra de Castril which adjoins the Natural Park of Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas and the Sierra de Baza. There is much, much more to see and to do, all you need is the time. In a couple of months we will be staying there again and are very much looking forward to it.
