A wonderful must-do experience for any visitor to Tuscany. Surrounded by lush greenery, and the soothing sounds of running water, you will find this 800 year old mill. The mill is one of very very few (are there more out there?) that has been continuously operational since the Middle Ages, using ancient "machinery". Stefano runs a great tour, and speaks excellent English. He showed us how the horizontal mill is powered by the local river. He very carefully sources his grains exclusively from local organic farmers, and the result is top quality fragrant whole grain pastas and flours. Real food! This is truly a unique experience for all who consider themselves as foodies; for anyone interested in the slow-food movement; for those who value quality artisan produce; and for those interested in sustainability and climate change (only water-power is used - this water is then returned to the river). This beautiful Mill has a valuable lesson for us all. It's up to us to listen!
Simply FABULOUS!!! Starting with the kindness and helpfulness of the owners. Each time we visit, we're captivated by their stories about the history of the place and how the mill works. And the products that come from these flours are amazing and, above all, genuine and healthy.
A fantastic place, perfect even for solitary retreats! I stayed for five days to get away from the city and relax in nature, and staying at Il Mulino was wonderful, exceeding all expectations. You can immerse yourself in the history and tradition of these fantastic lands, thanks also to the hospitality and kindness of the hosts. My compliments to them, and I highly recommend it to anyone reading this.
Enchanting! Surrounded by nature, the mill houses two fully renovated apartments, furnished with meticulous attention to detail. The outdoor area features a playground for children, two loungers for relaxing, and tables for enjoying a meal accompanied by the babbling stream! The owners are incredibly kind and attentive, always available. The weekend snacks are amazing: excellent pizza, ciaccia made with their own flour, and local cured meats and cheeses. It's also in a great location, within easy reach of the beautiful villages between the provinces of Arezzo and Perugia. In short, a rejuvenating holiday!
I discovered this place thanks to the FAI (Italian National Trust) days. It's a wonderful place surrounded by nature. The mill is in perfect working order, and the people who run it are incredibly kind. I'll definitely be back to try the products they make with their own flour.
