Nel cuore della Castiglia settentrionale, là dove le valli del Butrón tagliano gli altopiani di pietra ocra, il borgo di Ahedo del Butrón vive al ritmo lento delle stagioni e delle campane lontane. È in questo villaggio quasi sussurrato che le Casas Rurales Dondevilla si radicano da generazioni — una dimora contadina restaurata con cura rara, dove le travi a vista e i muri spessi custodiscono la memoria della Merindad de Sotoscueva.
La casa è grande, davvero grande. Accoglie comodamente i gruppi in cerca di spazio — famiglie allargate, cerchie di amici, tavolate multigenerazionali — senza mai scivolare nell'anonimato delle strutture di massa. Le stanze hanno carattere: cucina funzionale e ben attrezzata per preparare un pranzo di festa per quindici persone, salotto dagli spazi generosi, camere in cui si dorme come non si dorme più altrove. All'esterno, il giardino è una sorpresa — vasto, curato, silenzioso — che si scopre di prima mattina con il caffè ancora fumante.
Ciò che rende unica Dondevilla è la famiglia che la gestisce. Presenti senza essere invadenti, premurosi senza essere servili, conoscono ogni angolo della regione e sanno indicare un sentiero di crinale, un mercato di paese o una bodega che nessuna guida ha mai censito. D'inverno, quando la neve indurisce i sentieri e il fuoco crepita nel camino, il posto acquista una dimensione quasi fiabesca — i viaggiatori che vi hanno festeggiato il Natale parlano ancora dei canti uditi dalla strada e della magia di un cenone della vigilia fuori dal tempo.
D'estate, è l'immensità verde delle Loras a chiamare — parchi naturali, dolmen, gole scavate nel calcare millenario. La sera, i bambini giocano sotto le stelle mentre gli adulti apparecchiano la tavola all'aperto.
Ciò che si porta via lasciando Dondevilla non è soltanto il ricordo di una bella casa. È quello di un luogo che ha saputo rallentare il tempo — e di volti, quelli di una famiglia e di un villaggio, che fanno venir voglia di tornare.

We were a group of 6 adults and 6 young children at Dondevila1 and it was fantastic. The house is huge, well-equipped, and has a charming country feel (no impersonal modern amenities). But the best part was the garden and meadow where the children ran wild. The village is peaceful and beautiful, and the surrounding area is stunning. The hosts were always attentive and friendly; we hope to return someday!

A huge house. Beautiful. Peaceful. Tastefully restored. An incredible garden. Run by a very attentive, friendly, and welcoming family... If you're looking for a retreat to disconnect from everything, a base for exploring the area and sightseeing... Whatever it is, you'll love this place.

I stayed with my family (parents, siblings, and nephews/nieces) at Casas Dondevilla (17 people). The experience was wonderful—we were able to eat together in the dining room of Casa 1. The Sedano brothers provide us with some fantastic, traditional houses, lovingly renovated. It's clear they enjoyed the renovation process. I highly recommend the houses and the Merindades landscape. Next time, we'll go with a less hectic schedule so we can follow Juanjo's recommendations. :-)

Fabulous country house, spacious and with a spectacular patio. The house is in a very quiet area, ideal for disconnecting from everyday stress. This is the second time we've stayed in the main house and we were very satisfied. We wanted to see this area in both winter and summer and it didn't disappoint. The kids had a great time playing football in the attic and on the grounds… A special thank you to the owners for their hospitality; they welcomed us with honey from their own harvest and shared produce from their garden with us: cherries, lettuce, onions, zucchini… They also let us leave whenever we wanted on Sunday! Thank you so much, Mari Angeles, you have a wonderful house!
