We did a wine tour with Matteo, it was lovely, Matteo is very knowledgeable and accommodating. We would definitely recommend his wine tour, he also gifted us with a sample of his olive oil which is spectacular! Next time we will definitely stay at his Villa (such a pity we didn’t know beforehand because I would of definitely picked his accommodation) We had a great day out with Matteo and he pulled out all the stops for us! Highly recommend. 10/10
We had a wonderful olive oil tasting experience at Casa Pietraia. We were kindly welcomed by Giancarlo and heard interesting historical facts about the agriculture from which olive trees benefits. For example climate change has an impact too so we learned. Matteo arrived and we were off to an amazing educational yet relaxed introduction into olive oil tasting. Technical background about the production process and lots of room for personal questions, made it a really lovely experience. After the tasting, we are able to ‘send back’ bad olive oil at a restaurant as Matteo said. :) The art of making a good quality olive oil, really, should be more respected. Highly recommend visiting Casa Pietraia!
Our week long stay at Casa Pietraia was absolutely incredible. Matteo, Emma and Giancarlo are such beautiful people, and we feel incredibly lucky to have been able to meet, stay, and enjoy the slow life with them. We only wish it could have been longer! Their hillside villa is warm and inviting, outfitted in the traditional Tuscan style. We will never forget the enchanting views, featuring spectacular sunsets each evening - best accompanied with a glass of wine! Emma's cooking was the highlight of our trip. She made us breakfast every morning, and are we ever glad she did. Freshly baked cakes, homemade yoghurt, fresh bread, cured meats and cheeses were the best way to start each day. We are still dreaming of her apple cake! She also taught us how to make fresh pasta from scratch, which we enjoyed together with the whole family. One thing's for sure, we never went hungry! Matteo's passion for the region makes him an incredible guide, and we highly recommend taking a tour with him if you have the time. He goes out of his way to create personalized experiences, whether you enjoy seeing the sites or sipping wine, you will not be disappointed by spending a day or two with him. Make sure to try his incredible olive oil, as well! We cannot recommend Casa Pietraia enough. We definitely hope to visit again someday, as it was quite simply one of the best places we have ever had the chance to visit, only made better by some of the best people in the world.
