CasaGiga 3466 (Villanueva de la Vera)

We stayed here for three night. It has a lot of potential but lacks some basic maintenance. The tiny sink of the kitchen was clogged and leaked and would take a long time to drain. Hedges were not trimmed so you had to be careful not to get the thorns in your face. Also due to a mix up with Google maps we got lost for one hour in the backroads (not houses fault) but be very careful how you get there. Also it had absolutely no basic food necessities so make sure you bring you sugar salt coffee paper towels etc. Kitchen could use an upgrade. Also could have been a bit cleaner. Host was courteous.

A beautiful setting, but it's a shame that a house with so much potential is so poorly maintained and neglected. It was dirty, with cobwebs everywhere and bugs, broken and stained armchairs (not to mention the bedspreads covered in sweat stains from previous use), the pans were practically falling apart, and the dish towels were practically nonexistent. The kitchen and utensils weren't suitable for a capacity of 16 people. The caretaker seemed friendly at first, but as soon as we arrived, we noticed the broken armchair and told him. We even moved it to prevent further damage. He tried to charge us back the deposit, claiming we had broken it, and also the dishwasher, which we hadn't even used. We didn't even bother to tell him how badly the house was maintained at first, and on top of that, he wanted to keep the deposit. We had to speak to the owner, who wasn't there, and explain the situation. The access road was also very poorly signposted. What a shame about this house, considering its many wonderful qualities and beautiful location. We've stayed in many rural houses, and this one is by far the worst maintained and overpriced. We will not be returning.

The house was extremely damp, very dirty, and lacked even the most basic maintenance and upkeep, making it unsuitable for even two days. I brought a baby, and the available crib was broken and only had one sheet to cover him in February. It would have been helpful if they had notified us so we could have brought everything we needed and avoided the nights we spent there. A significant amount of work is needed to maintain the house, clean it thoroughly, and provide excellent customer service to offer even a minimal guarantee of satisfaction. We will not be returning because we felt there was absolutely no effort to provide good service. We don't understand why there was no hot water the first night; why a daily appliance like the coffee maker still had a dirty filter from the previous guests; why they hadn't turned on the heating to warm the house and hide the damp puddles under the beds; or why they hadn't done a thorough cleaning of the house before we arrived.

The house is wonderful. Spacious, bright, well-equipped, and in a spectacular setting. We had a lot of fun with the paddle tennis and basketball courts, although we did miss having the floodlights working, as it's impossible to see after 6 pm. Another aspect that could be improved is the access. It's a bit difficult. We were delighted. We'll definitely be back.

A huge country house, nestled in nature, right next to a stream. The common areas are enormous, comfortable, and very pleasant. The house has six very comfortable bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It also has a large and beautiful porch, a swimming pool where the children splashed around nonstop, basketball and paddle tennis courts (although we didn't have time to use them), a barbecue (which we couldn't use due to local fire safety restrictions, completely understandable in the summer), a solarium, and a picnic area that was a real treat for breakfasts and dinners. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house. In short, we had a fantastic weekend and will definitely be back.
