En el corazón de la Sierra de Gata, allí donde Extremadura se hace montaña antes de inclinarse hacia Portugal, Gata es uno de esos pueblos que el tiempo ha perdonado. Sus callejuelas de granito, sus tejados de pizarra y sus olivos centenarios cuentan una España profunda, lejos de las rutas trilladas — una tierra de dehesas salvajes, alcornoques y cielos sin fin.
En ese marco se inscribe la Casa Rural Las Jañonas, una casa de huéspedes rural de alma cálida y acogida sincera. Tres habitaciones privadas, cada una con su propia llave, ofrecen a cada grupo o familia la posibilidad de reunirse bajo el mismo techo preservando al mismo tiempo su intimidad. Los espacios son sencillos, cuidados, decorados con gusto: camas dobles o gemelas según la habitación, baño privado, climatización reversible, radiador para las noches frescas, televisión y secador de pelo. El Wi-Fi funciona, la calefacción también — los inviernos en la sierra pueden sorprender, y la casa responde a ello sin fallar.
El salón y la cocina son compartidos, limpios y bien equipados, verdaderos espacios de vida colectiva donde se prepara una comida juntos o se prolonga la velada en torno a una botella de vino local. Es ahí donde se tejen los mejores recuerdos de viaje.
Fuera, la Sierra de Gata espera: rutas por los castañares, pueblos medievales a tiro de coche, mercados de productores donde el jamón ibérico y el aceite de oliva se venden todavía a granel. Cáceres y sus palacios renacentistas están a solo una hora.
Con una nota de 4,7 sobre 5 basada en cuarenta reseñas, la Casa Rural Las Jañonas convence tanto por su relación calidad-precio como por la disponibilidad de sus propietarios. Lo que los viajeros se llevan al marcharse rara vez es un objeto — más bien la imagen de una luz dorada sobre la piedra gris, el olor a leña ardiendo en invierno, y la certeza tranquila de que aún existen lugares que no intentan ser otra cosa que lo que son.

It's a rural guesthouse with excellent value for money. The rooms are basic but cozy and comfortable, and the heating worked perfectly (it was a weekend with quite low temperatures). The owners are at the bar "Lo Portoles" in the square (about 50 meters away) and are very friendly. The cuisine combines traditional dishes with some more elaborate options, all homemade and of very good quality. Highly recommended.

The rooms are very pretty and tastefully decorated, they have Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating, hairdryer, television ... And you share the kitchen and the living room, everything is very clean. A few meters from the house is the Plaza de la Constitución surrounded by bars and lots of life, but without a doubt the best is the Gastro bar Los Portales, which belongs to Rosa and Javi, the owners of the Casa Rural las Jañonas. Here you can enjoy a wonderful breakfast included in the price and you can have lunch and dinner because that will be what happens to you when you try the delicious food they prepare. They have just deservedly received a Solete de Repsol. All the staff is attentive and fast, and Rosa is the best. We had a small problem that is not worth mentioning if it weren't for saying that Rosa solved it immediately. The town of Gata is full of narrow streets with flowers, be sure to go to the natural pool.

Rural house with 3 fully equipped rooms (bathroom, air conditioning, radiator, double or twin beds, and a TV in each room) with its own key for privacy if you're sharing the stay with more people. Kitchen and living room are large enough for lunch or dinner, simple cooking, and playing a board game or chatting. Refrigerator, microwave, stove, and extractor hood. Spread over three floors, the staircase is in very good condition! Very well located, 2 minutes from the main square. Includes breakfast at the bar in the square, which takes the worry away. On a minor note... In the bathrooms, the shower was fixed to the ceiling, unable to be moved to avoid getting your hair wet, and one of them didn't have a sponge or soap. Also missing basic items like kitchen paper, cooking oil or salt, or some utensils were missing. But overall, we were very happy with the stay!

Rural house located next to the town square. We had the first floor. It's a shame that due to Covid restrictions, the kitchen can't be used, because it's truly lovely. Cozy room, comfortable bed, and good lighting. Rosa's hospitality was outstanding, both upon arrival at the house and at the bar, Los Portales, which she owns. Breakfast is included, from migas to toast. Everything was delicious; if we ever return, we'll definitely stay here again. Thank you for everything.

House with very spacious rooms. Distributed over two floors, the first floor has a living-dining room with an open-plan kitchen and a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The second floor has two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen is well-equipped. Everything was excellent. The owners were very friendly. The breakfast was very good 😋😋
