CasaGiga 533 (Santiago de Compostela)

Well located and comfortable Pension … as you’d expect for a Pension, facilities are limited (it offers a kitchen, although that was of no interest to us); the rooms were reasonably sized and very comfortable; ours was relatively long and narrow with a very good ensuite with shower, all plainly but attractively decorated. It faced onto an interior courtyard and was very quiet. The whole place seemed immaculately clean; reception hours were somewhat surprising, but reliably kept, and staff were very helpful when present (including helping us “oldies” carry our cases upstairs!); equally, they were happy for us to leave luggage outside the check-in/out hours, subject to when reception was staffed. Located about 10 minutes walk from either the station (uphill on arrival!) or the Cathedral, so very convenient, and reasonably priced for Compostella!

Arrived very late and was able to check in. They also kindly allowed me to store my luggage for a few days while doing the Camino! Five star 🥳 great base before beginning Camino de Santiago

Highly recommend for an economical and quiet place to rest and recover. The rooms are small but the beds are surprisingly soft and comfortable. Each room has a desk and chair and a fan. The rooms can get stuffy. There's a terrace and a washing machine. They told me my friend (pilgrim staying at a different lodging) could only stay on the terrace for 30 minutes to eat breakfast with me, which I found a little unpleasant or unhospitable, but I suppose they have some rule to enforce. Don't punish yourself after your camino with a room full of snorers or a loud church bell ringing by your bed in a hostel. Get a private room. 10 min walk to cathedral & train station.

The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and have soap, shampoo, dental hygiene kits and earplugs. Slippers and bottled water as well. You can't check in before 3 (15:00). You can definitely hear between the rooms but it is a budget accomodation. Would use this place again. Terraces have some views and rooms have windows.

The room was pretty but the window was towards the inner 'courtyard', 40cm to the bathroom window which can create a lot of noise if it has the window open. The walls and doors are made of cardboard and you can hear everything - I was hearing the person from across the corridor coughing. The bathroom smells horrible and does not vent much and the coffee area is not really equiped with much - no mugs or cups, no tissues, etc. Overall, felt like an university dorm, with people listening to loud music around, passive-aggressive rules written on the walls and doors doors being slammed around. The girl from the reception was nice and friendly, the guy I had to deal with in the morning when my fiance came to help me pack, was not very reasonable. He banged the door and told me that my fiance needs to leave immediately because he is not allowed to stay in a single room because that's the law, although I was supposed to checkout in less than an hour and he was not living there, he was visiting. It sounded to me that they are desperate to micromanage the resources you use AND don't understand how laws work in general. Don't recommend it at all and I will not return there for sure!
