12 of us spent a lovely week there nestled in the forest, surrounded by peacefulness! The hosts are amazing, the property is beautiful and the places to visit that are near are amazing! I highly recommend Esta CasaGiga if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and really connect with nature. The hosts are the most genuine and kind people I've ever met.

Esta CasaGiga Review (9/4-9/16/2024) After a stunning drive into a national forest we - two Americans from Portland, Oregon - arrived at Esta CasaGiga. The owners and hosts, Florence and Jean-Yves Vetsch, both spoke English well, and French of course, welcomed each of our “wellness” group’s eleven members to our first overseas (but 3rd annual) “retreat”. We came from all over the U.S. but half of us were from Portland. A description of the property for future renters: The Esta CasaGiga property has five rental cottages, “gites”, each of which is 200-250 years old and looks like it, but they are updated with modern plumbing and kitchens with delicious, filtered running spring-water right from the mountain into your water glass. My wife and I selected the Cerisier - Cherry Tree - cottage because it was the only single-story choice - I’m recovering from a knee replacement surgery - and had just two steps down to its private patio and yard, although you have to take a short pebbled incline to reach your private parking spot. Very convenient but not good for wheelchairs currently. The Cerise cottage has a large covered patio with a BBQ and as much seating as you need, both covered and open-air, to best appreciate this steep location’s best views, east, west, south, up, and down. It had two good-sized bedrooms with a bathroom between the two, off a small central hallway with automatic lighting and doors separating those areas from each other and from the main living space. One bedroom had two twin beds, the other a queen. Each room had shelves and space for hanging clothes, reading lights, bedside tables, their own heaters below the openable French windows, comfortable mattresses and bedding. The large bathroom between the bedrooms had a good shower stall, an “American” toilet (yay!), a window that opened, a large double vanity with mirror and drawers for storage, lots of hooks, a heated towel rack/dryer which also heated the room, plus a washing machine and good-sized racks for clothes-drying. The living-dining-kitchen space was huge, with the south end opening onto a Juliet balcony through tall French doors. The kitchen itself was enormous, attractive and equipped with everything imaginable for food prep and large-group dining, which is why our cottage, out of the five available, was chosen by our group organizers to be the cafeteria, social hub, and party house for the week. The single downside to Esta CasaGiga this year was the weather. Normally, temps in September are said to be in the 80’s and 90’s. This year’s September started in the 70’s but descended too soon into the 40’s, and despite the pool being heated, our group’s age ranges - 53 to 77 - precluded casual dips. Instead of swimming, the pool area became one of the go-to spots for evening sing-alongs and amazing star-gazing. We can’t stress enough how wonderful the hosts were, showing us the best farmers markets, local sights, and actually demonstrated bread-making. They sometimes even cooked for us or shared meals cooked by our organizers, but that’s probably only possible when just one group is on site. They also introduced two of their adult kids and their friends to the group, sharing wine and stories, allowing us the fun of laughing at each others’ accents and linguistic faux pas, and helping each other hone our language skills, making this experience feel like one big happy family reunion for each one of us. A true joy! Thank you!

We spent five days in the hamlet of Esta CasaGiga. Such a peaceful place, where time seems to stand still. Plenty of amenities for entertainment (swimming pool, tennis courts, ping-pong table, etc.) and superbly equipped cottages for our comfort! Not to mention our exceptional hosts, Florence and Jean-Yves, who showed us the beautiful corners of the Sidobre surrounding their hamlet.
