CasaGiga 240 (Saint-Cyr-en-Pail)

Mid way through a very rainy cycle tour of Normandy, we booked Esta CasaGiga last minute for some shelter and could not have been more lucky! The chateau itself has been very well looked after and beautifully restored. The room was very comfortable and overlooked a lovely garden with roaming goats and pigs and dogs! The hosts were extremely generous and kind, going above and beyond helping us out of a difficult situation. They also cooked us a delicious dinner and breakfast at a very modest price. They told us about their exciting plans to renovate the barn buildings - definitely recommend staying here, it was perfect.

One-star rating because zero is not an option. Absolutely avoid this place, it's a scam! We were a group of friends there (November). It was very cold, and we had to buy firewood at the supermarket as it wasn't provided. According to the owner, the firewood delivery was scheduled but delayed. The dishwasher was out of order, there wasn't enough cutlery for everyone, the oven door was held shut with a piece of cardboard, the gas bottle was out of order, and there wasn't enough hot water for everyone. The bed option consisted of only one fitted sheet, no duvet cover, just a blanket. We had booked a spa/relaxation package for €450. The day before our arrival, the owner explained that due to a delivery delay, we wouldn't be able to use this service. We agreed to a €450 refund. It's now March, and we still haven't received the refund despite numerous follow-ups. The owner is no longer responding to our texts, emails, or calls. So, definitely avoid this place.

We had a wonderful stay at Esta CasaGiga. The welcome was exceptional, with truly friendly and attentive staff. The place is ideal for getting together with family or friends. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as the children's corner set up "like a school": a brilliant idea! My son loved it. As for the meal, we weren't disappointed at all, quite the opposite. Sunday lunch was delicious: the smoked sausage rougail, the samosas (a real treat!), and the little punch that whets the appetite… everything was perfect.
